Well today's shift was way more interesting. I watched some very good videos on media, "Strength to Resist" and one on sexual assault, "Rape is...". I highly recommend both, however, I forgot to get the correct information to pass along. The Transition House was a bit busier today. I really enjoy spending time with the residents and their children. I was shocked when the children ran up to me after school and wrapped their arms around me!! Anyway, we spent part of the afternoon working on a puzzle together. There are many reasons women may access the services of the Transition House, not all have to do with "fleeing abuse", so there is a mix of residents at the house right now. Abuse includes things like emotional, financial, verbal, psychological and physical and sexual. Financial abuse is often not talked about openly, but it is very real and many women experience it. All in all, my experience has been positive. One more thing...Donations are needed and appreciated.

Hi Nicole,
Thanks for sharing all the different reasons why women might access Transition House. Maybe you could tell us more about what kind of donations are needed? I'm guessing cash is always needed, but could they use things like travel containers of shampoo and conditioner and soap like you get in hotels?
