Christine Leclerc is NWCC's first ever full-time student blogger!
Christine is from Terrace, where she's in second year of the Business Administration program. As one of seven students who took part in a study exchange to China earlier this year, Christine is a student who gets involved and likes a challenge. Over the fall and winter semesters, she'll be giving her take on student life at NWCC. We're excited to see and read her posts and encourage you - the college community - to follow along.
She's looking forward to getting your feedback and maybe some inspiration, too, throughout her blogging experience. And in case you're wondering, that's her beloved English bulldog Maddox!
YES, that’s my precious dog child Maddox, the love of my life, alongside my boyfriend who I’ve been honey mooning with for two years. Everyone keeps asking when we're going to get engaged. The truth is I told him if he’s going to spend that much money on an engagement ring, I'd prefer an engagement car so he has some extra saving up to do.
I moved back to Terrace 2.5 years ago from Prince Rupert because I knew what I wanted to do. I was going to be a financial consultant. So I was hired as an assistant to a financial consultant for my first year here and it became evident. I, in fact, did NOT want to become a financial consultant. With enough encouragement from others I enrolled into the business admin program. It was in Dr Try's class that we first heard about a trip the college offered for students to go to China for 6 weeks to take business courses. After some students who previously went on the trip showed some pictures and told some stories, I knew I wanted to go. The trip turned into being one of the best things that happened in my life, giving me direction and self confidence. Let me tell you, there is nothing like being blonde in China! It was during this trip that I realized (after I couldn’t zip my suitcases closed) that I had a ridiculous love for clothes. So it just made sense for me to start my own fashion line. You’ll see it coming up in the next few years.
I am excited to write this blog and use this chance to brag about what NWCC has to offer. It has so many bragging rights, the fact that it’s in our back yard, it’s very reasonably priced, it has small classes and amazing teachers to name a few. It’s given me the opportunity to go to China, and at the end of this month I will be going to Vancouver on an all expense paid trip to a seminar because of a bursary instructors informed students about.
I look forward to the months ahead, the chance to tell you about my adventures of being a student at NWCC and am very excited to hear what you have to say.
I have told you some of what the college has done for me, and I would like to sign off this introduction by asking if anyone would like to share their story of why they chose NWCC and what it has done for them.
Cheers,
Christine
An engagement car! Ahhaha great start to the blog, Christine. Can't wait to follow your journey through life as a 2nd Year NWCC Business Administration student and perhaps some of Maddox's silly faces along the way...?
