Today is, unfortunately, the last day of camp, so I thought I'd better blog while I can. Thank you very much to Melanie and Jess for putting on the camp. It is everything I love about meeting other writers. I spend so much time wondering, does anybody else ever feel this way? No one else could possibly get this frustrated, or nothing would ever be written. But whenever I'm around other people who've made writing part of their lives, I feel that instant connection. That common interest that goes beyond a sport we both like, or the fact that we both think kittens are too adorable to function. Writing is something else--something that makes it impossible to be anything other than who you are. To me, writing is home.
After listening to some amazing presenters, and hearing all the other camp attendees share their work, I come home every night eager to turn on my computer and write and write and write (and write and write and write and write) until I have nothing else to say. Creativity is like a forest fire. If you spend time around people who have it, it's sure to catch.
Well, the clouds are out, the sun has disappeared, and I haven't written a word since last night. See you all soon!
So true erika! I think I speak for all of us when I say we get frustrated, angry, and depressed by our writing habit - but it is also so rewarding! It's not that uncommon at all to feel this way - but getting together with people in the same boat makes it so much easier!
