The opening of NWCC's Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art year-end student art show took place Friday night in Waap Galts'ap (longhouse) and was well attended by family, friends and local dignitaries.
The event began in Waap Haawk with a blessing and was followed with speeches by NWCC President Dr. Denise Henning, artists Dempsey Bob, Stan Bevan, Ken McNeil, and Dean Heron; Board member Gerald Wesley, Freda Diesing Mature Student Award benefactor Bruce Byfield, and student Carol Young.
Two students then led the group over to Waap Galts'ap where the students' art was showcased. The art show will continue from 10-4 both Saturday and Sunday, so please stop by and take a look at the talent these NWCC students possess.
Great show. Thank you to all who attended. I think that this was a bit of a milestone for many of the students and even some of the staff. The quality of the work was well received by many and many people made comments to me that this was the best quality that they have ever seen in all the shows put out over the last 5 years.
Good job guys.

Thanks for the comment, Nigel. This is my first year working for NWCC, so I can't speak to years past... I can say I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the artwork. It made me feel proud to be a part of NWCC!
By the way, great website!
