TERRACE – The Hon. Naomi Yamamoto, B.C.’s newly appointed Minister of Advance Education, toured Northwest Community College’s (NWCC) Terrace Campus March 24.
Yamamoto, the MLA for North Vancouver-Lonsdale since her election in 2009, met with the College’s President Denise Henning and its Board of Governors Chair Rhoda Witherly, plus other NWCC governors and administrators before a 90-minute campus tour. She met students while being shown the Terrace Campus’s administration, trades and dorm buildings, the cafeteria, plus the Freda Diesing School of Northwest Coast Art studio and Waap Galts’ap, the recently-opened longhouse.
The visit to NWCC marked Yamamoto’s first since she was appointed to the ministry on March 14, 2011. Yamamoto previously served as Minister of State for Building Code Renewal and Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations.
