Matthew Le Gresley, first year student in the Northern Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Program.
I grew up in Williams Lake, where I graduated from Cariboo Adventist Academy in 2000 and I have been working as a paramedic at various locations in BC since 2003.
Nursing runs in my family; my wife, mother, aunt, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law are all nurses. But one of the main reasons why I decided to make a career change is that I have come in contact with a number of male nurses while working here in the North as a paramedic. It didn't seem out of the ordinary to be a man in nursing.
My plan for after graduation is to stay here in and work at the hospital in ER/ICU. Eventually, I would like to complete a Masters Degree in Nursing but am waiting to see what direction to pursue this in.
